Both excellent photos Fred but particularly the
first one ... looks like it has done a modelling
course with the pose.

Fred what was the distance on the first one. It's crystal clear. Was it a long lens?

RookieThe lens was an AF- S Nikkor 55-200 1.4-5.6G DX with VR hand held.
The Sooty was only a few metres away
On my camera ( i think ) the effective range is then 300 which is what my exif shows
Hope this helps i'm not into the techy stuff.
There's lots of Terns on the island and they let you get real close and they make an almighty racket trying to chase you off.Cheers Fred

Hey Fred,
Nice shots mate
,
We have a pair of Oyster catchers that come to my work, looking through the stuff that comes off the bottom of the Boats, Mussells, oysters and stuff. Ever since some one told me that they were called Oyster Catchers, I have wondered why their legs are so long and strong, Oysters don't move so quick
